2014-2019 Corvette Twin Turbo Kit

 

Here's a Quick Reference for some of the Most Common Questions we are receiving about this Kit.

Installation

  1. How long does it take to install?   Approx ~ 25-30 hours
  2. What is the most difficult task?  Removing the oil pan and welding the Turbo Drain Fittings.  You can skip this if you do want to run an external scavenge pump.   
  3. Will I need to cut or modify the car?  You will need to trim two small casting tabs on the inside of the frame, but you will not need to cut or modify any part of the chassis, body, or suspension otherwise. 
  4. Can I install this Kit in my garage?  Yes,  while its not preferred. It is possible to do this install without a lift, and the car on Jackstands. 

Turbo Options

Initially, we are offering 3 different Turbo sizes to suit the most common setups and power ranges.    While we don't believe in "Staged" packages, we like to structure our setups to be pretty flexible without major gaps in adjustability.  It really comes down to personal preference and your specific power goals.   Here's a basic guideline we like to use during consultations. 
  • ~800whp -  if your goal is  to Turbocharge a Base model, LT1 equipped Corvette, we recommend our VSR 5872 option.  These 58mm Turbos will support approx 1000whp in a max effort and be great for a 700-800whp pump gas,  street driven setup on reasonable boost levels.   These Turbos will spool very quick, but become somewhat in-efficient at higher boost and power levels. 
  • 800-1200whp-   If your goal is to build a car with great street manners and still capable of big power, our VSR 6262 Turbo is probably the best all around turbo option in our opinion.   These turbos offer a slightly later spool, but continue to make power at higher boost levels and power goals.    These turbos will support 1200whp efficiently and will max out at around 1300-1400whp at high boost on a large displacement engine.    These turbos are great option for making good power on pump gas at low boost levels and they really come alive on better fuels, and higher boost. 
  • 1200-1500whp+  For the big power, Max effort builds we offer the VSR 6762 Turbo. These feature a 67mm compressor wheel upgrade over the 6262 turbo.     With the right engine combination, these Turbos will support 1500whp+ in a Twin Configuration. 
  • All of the boost ++     While we currently only offer 3 off the shelf options. there are custom options to consider an even larger turbos available.   Please contact us for 70mm+ Turbo options. 2000whp Possibilities. 

 Heat Management -  

The C7 Corvette had some notorious issues during its initial release and ongoing development with it's ability to stay cool and on the track for extended periods of time.  Considering these common issues, we  added our own solutions and considerations in an effort to not make these problems worse.   While we don't offer these services or products in house, we can accommodate them upon special request.   Consider these useful suggestions to combat those concerns.  You don't need to employ every option, but we do recommend at least the coating or Blankets at a minimum for Heat Management
  1. Ceramic Coating-   Cerakote Headers, Turbine Housings, and Downpipes
  2. Turbo Blankets-  PTP Turbo Blankets are the recommended product here. 
  3. DEI LS/LT Starter Shield -  Wrap around blanket for added protection from starter heat soak
  4. Heat Wrap/ Sleeves-  We prefer a quality Titanium Exhaust wrap for portions of the Manifolds. Wastegates near the transmission and Sleeve for the brake lines and anything else other hoses or lines in the vicinity.
